Guidelines for Authors Preparing Their Manuscripts for Print

(PDF formatted print version)

After your manuscript has been accepted for publication in Oriens Extremus please conform to the following guidelines:

▲ Save your manuscript as a word file.

▲ If your contribution contains graphics, these should be saved not only as an integrated part of the text but also in separate files. If the files are too large for being sent by email, they should be saved on CD-ROM.

▲ Please use footnotes rather than endnotes.

▲ Bibliographic references should be given in the footnotes rather than at the end of the main text.

▲ For the sake of consistent formal standards in the bibliographic references, authors are requested to conform to the patterns listed in the Stylesheet.

▲ Articles written in German should, until further notice, conform to the old spelling rules.

▲ If your article contains literal translations please don’t hesitate to add the wording of the original text (Chinese, Japanese, etc.).

▲ Chinese characters should be given in their non-abbreviated forms (fantizi). Characters added to terms and expressions should only be given the first time they occur.

▲ As transcription we prefer for Chinese: Hanyu Pinyin or Wade-Giles, for Japanese: Hepburn, for Korean: Mc Cune-Reischauer. Tonal indications added to transcriptions should, if possible, be avoided.

▲ Although you are not obliged to bring your text into the required standard format yourself, you have the possibility to either adapt your draft to the Formatting Styles of Oriens Extremus or to write right into a Preformatted File.
